Clyde - The London Sessions
If you’re in the mood for some experimental punk rock music with a touch of alter/church music, then Clyde is your band. Especially with The London Sessions! This latest album release of theirs is a concoction of wild beats that is a shot to the senses. It wakes you up from your slumber, slowly and gently, and shoots you into their punk rock fairy mist world! The band has its origins in Kentucky. The album is a short listen of a little over 15 minutes. Yet they have managed to take us on a journey within this time. Clyde The Traveler We are off to a steady-paced start with The Traveler. The first track re-establishes the journey aspect of music as it takes us on the scenic route. The mood is set with the electric guitar that slowly lifts the song as it surrenders control of the vocals and the drums that hold the beat for the track. All together, a wonderful concoction of slow-paced punk rock and pop. The band takes their time with painting a picture in this number, and the exploration with pace is particularly seen in this one. The Writer It is wondrous the way they have the ability to play with punk pop music in extremes. They can go from bubbly to morose in the span of two songs, showcasing their range. I say this because as soon as we hit the second song- The Writer, the band goes to a much more upbeat and vibrant texture of notes. They still somehow stick to the somewhat slow-paced approach and yet give off an upbeat energy. In this particular number, we observe their distinguished eye for detail. The Poser We come full circle with a more staid number as their last song. Here the vocals take center stage, creating a more intimate performance atmosphere. The Poser has the same graph as church music that slowly balloons with details that are slowly injected into the track. The track almost shimmers with details as it is peppered with piano and guitar sections that only add texture to the intricate textile that the band creates. By the time the drums make their entrance, the song swells and floats, swaying us gently in the process. The track is a graceful closing act by the band, allowing our senses to adjust, comprehend, and appreciate their work. A genius artist who has explored many forms of expression is Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance. One of his genius creations is The Umbrella Academy; the series has some of the best playlists in the current series market. The London Sessions would be an ideal addition to this playlist. May we have the honor of listening to more music by the band. If you want to stay tuned to more music by Clyde, then I highly suggest you follow the links attached above.
