Derek Lee Goodreid - Underdog
In a sonic landscape that is filled with pop, rock and other genres that barely touch the surface of emotions, Derek Lee Goodreid dares to dig deeper with Underdog, his latest release. He gives us an infectious and endearing blend of country, folk and Rock in this gem. The underdog energy is alive, thriving and appreciated in this one. He has successfully encapsulated the spirit of overcoming hardships and difficulties throughout the single. The track is simple, it bubbles into existence with country percussion and strings. Derek comes strutting in with his cool-as-a-cucumber vocals. The lyrics though are not as laid back, it hits you when you least expect it. “Takes a lot of grit to rise to the top Hard Work beats talent every time Well I've been hit I've been spat upon Told I was nothing I am an underdog.” If you heard that, you would relate too. Underdog celebrates the strength and the tenacity it takes to rise against all odds. The gritty edge that Derek’s voice gives is irreplaceable. Also, a special shout out to the dogs in the videos that stand in complete contradiction to the texture of the song. All this imagery and production-perfection brings back images of Bolt. The animated film swept the world off its feet with its star-studded cast- Miley Ray Cyrus, John Travolta and Malcolm McDowell. Derek Lee Goodreid has created a musical genius where passion meets talent and creativity. As he says himself, this is the anthem of the century that encourages us to overcome adversity. He has successfully and firmly established himself as a rising star with over 27,000 replays on most of his songs.
BOSSMACHINE - Hypnotic
Hypnotic is a punk pop explosion that slowly creeps up on you and takes you by surprise. The dynamic duo- BOSSMACHINE have created a fresh electrifying track that will take over your senses. The song has a steady build that makes the musical journey seem seamless. This roller coaster of a number is an exhilarating number that dares to be different. The one-of-a-kind duo has found a seamless midway point for collaboration. Here both their production expertise and nuances don’t go unnoticed. Hypnotic has a unique mixture of modern rock along with old-school techno, instantly setting the track apart from the start. The pulsating synth drums create a relentless bassline that does the perfect trick for BOSSMACHINE’s production quality and Flasch's (the featured vocal artist) vocals to shine. Flasch (the featured vocal artist) performs unabashedly and unapologetically adding a defiant sense of freedom to the track. This punk rock track is perfectly balanced which only indicates how well BOSSMACHINE know their craft. The youthful song is sure to get you on your feet with just the smooth beat structure. The futuristic nature of the song gives us a sense of another realm making it s perfect addition to Monster Inc. The children’s film is Avante Garde in its own way and within which Hypnotic would brilliantly in the party scene. This silky smooth track urges you to break away from the mundane world and take it by the hair and run with it. So crank up the volume, lower your window and channel your inner teenager and get the party started.
The Pulltops - With You
With You is the required dosage of endearment serum by The Pulltops that can keep you going for a long while. The track is a pop-rock number that fills your heart with the genuine confession style with the funs from the rock texture that it carries. The sonic tapestry in the song runs a journey of ups and downs that keeps you guessing whats going to come up next. The duo has us on our toes and hooked from start to finish. The way they play with pace, tension between instruments and synth is so interesting. They do all this and they manage to make all this technique sound fun throughout. A film that holds the same amount of fun, intensity and joy is Ratatouille. With You would elevate the marvelous script to a whole new level. The intensity of the song matches the endearing yet genuine nature that animated films hold. I highly suggest you give The Pulltops the chance they deserve and hit that like button. .Fen - In Love
Get your bandwagon ready because .Fen releases the perfect song to scream your love at the top of your heart and lungs with In Love. This refreshing number brings the band-styled grand texture of music back into style. Everything about this song is not only endearing but it is also a grand celebration of love. The track is a spiral slide of joy and celebration. What shines through and through is .Fen;s storytelling abilities. The song starts off with a strong guitar section and completely mixes it up with 10 seconds to a brass band-sounding texture. There is a theatre to .Fen’s music that allows for the song to bloom and boom. The production on this track has done a stellar job of amplifying the drama in the song. We move past an array of genres that are held together by pop, we move from electric to Broadway and to even rock. .Fen’s adoration of Stevie Wonder and The Jacksons is evident and perfectly portrayed in the music video, which by the way is a delight to watch. The declaration and celebration of love is truly reminiscent of the feeling of watching Shrek and having Accidentally in Love blare through the screen. I think we found the perfect competition and even a replacement for that. I honestly think this track can be a production of its own, the sonic tapestry of the track is strong. The track is already a success in the indie music market and I don’t see it stopping anytime soon. Go on checkout .Fen and witness his brilliance with your own eyes and ears.
Sambox - Cocooning
Sambox has always been a wizard of a musician, giving us a wondrous set of sounds to lose ourselves in like Cocooning. Cocooning is a collaboration with another brilliant artist- Anita Barbereau. The two forces have united to give us a forest of sounds waiting for us to explore. This track falls into Sambox’s genre of creating scenic/ cinematic ambient music. What sets Sambox’s music apart is the detailing in production. Sambox knows how to peak and hold your interest. It’s beautiful how a string instrument gives off sounds that are as light as air. Like I said before, he gives us a forest of sounds. He allows the music to simmer and build ultimately engulfing us with the sounds. We can hear a lot of East Asian influences in this song. The synth adds a contemporary touch to it. In this forest in Cocooning you can feel the wind swish and twirl, playing games with the leaves that fall off the trees as it rushes past you, weaving between the strands of your hair. All this as you stand still allows the world to do its thing as you stand as a silent observer. There is a quality to Sambox’s songs that are grounded in nature, making us incredibly aware of the beauty of our surroundings. The same can be said about Ghibli films. I can imagine this play in so many scenes in The Wind Rises. If you too want to explore and get lost in beautiful worlds, I highly suggest you click on the links attached above and give Sambox a listen.
Noel David Hey Dr. Freud
In an era where the world seems to be taking itself way too seriously, we have Noel David, who released his latest single, Hey Dr. Freud. Noel David Muyskens, known to the music world simply as Noel David, is a singer, songwriter, and pianist. Noel began by creating a duo band with a guitar-playing Dylan fan named Zander. Their work took them to New York. While Noel continued to pursue his ambitious corporate career, he never gave up on his piano and songwriting. In 2020, a chance meeting between Noel and Grammy-nominated producer George Dussault sparked a creative partnership. The result was Leon’s Imagination. One of the songs from it is Hey Dr. Freud. Hey Dr. Freud is an eclectic blend of jazz, pop, and folk. The track is incredibly personable. Hey Dr. Freud has a laid-back attitude to it while also being extremely unaware. The track is a satirical and conversational number, giving it its folk touch. There is a slight Hawaiian feeling as well, especially if we look into the chord progression, and then we hear keys and guitar interact with an array of percussion instruments. By the end of the song, you are bound to be on your feet and doing a little jig. The contagious and playful energy of the song makes it the perfect number for a series like Big Mouth! The animated series is a hilarious satirical outlook on existentialism, puberty, and parenting. A track as well produced as this deserves to break out from the canopy of mediocrity and grab the people’s attention that it so rightfully deserves. You can click the link attached above and get your dancing shoes on because it will sweep you away.
