Matt McKnzi has some sounds that explore a lot of genres together. He finds the common thread that binds the songs together and makes it worth the wait. R&B, hip-hop and mainstream pop are the channels he targets, and he has put together some great singles. This is his latest endeavour, Atlas.
If there was a sound that travelled the whole globe, it is that ambient background. Matt McKnzi creates a deftly engineered backbeat, on which his silken vocals glide. There is a lo-fi element to it, and it amplifies during the chorus. You’ll be hooked to the minimal execution, while having a spectacular balance of harmonics and textures. Tonally, Matt has produced something densely populated with the dream elements of pop & R&B.
His singles Dying Breed & Jimmy B are things voyages in music are made of. The young artist is just getting started, there is a lot more to go. This song would be perfect in the 2014 TV show, Mozart in the Jungle. Listen to the incredible song here and follow Matt McKnzi for more:
