Clare Easdown released her new Single Burned Into My Past and it is hauntingly beautiful. The ballad captures the essence of heartbreak and the boon and bane of memory. From the opening notes of the piano to the soft, mournful vocals, the number grips your attention from the top.
Clare’s voice is raw, emotive and it sounds distant, much like distant memories that hold you captive. Her voice emits this sense of longing and pain and the need to break free from it. The lyrics are poignantly poetic, painting vivid pictures of heartbreak that are etched into our memories. The melody is simple yet powerful, so reminiscent of classical music with a Lofi touch to it. The piano and strings create a backdrop that dresses a stage that is ready for Clare’s voice to shine. The chorus leaves you wanting more as her voice sounds like a distant echo singing “Burned Into My Past”.
Marriage Story is one such film that leaves you with a bag full of emotions that leaves you hoping that the couple both break up but also get back together at the same time. The film goes back and forth from past to present. The past is often addressed in so many ways, in fights, in conversations and in thoughts. Burned Into My Past would fit wonderfully, right after they have the big fight, almost as if the dust has settled but the loud silence is ever present.
Clare Easdown so beautifully and subtly brings to us the power of the past in a 4 minutes soundtrack. She is a craftsman through and through. You must check out her work in the links attached here.
