Blueburst is a melodic defibrillator, for you and the artist behind it. Craig Douglas Miller had left a musical dream far behind, but has returned to it with a newfound passion. Are we glad? You wouldn’t have a single like Vanish to obsess over otherwise. With years of experience under his belt and starting off a career in music at 50, nothing about him isn’t like a movie. This is his latest single, Supernova.
A supernova is a star’s explosion. It is supposed to be a grand, blinding sight-that is what Blueburst creates. It is blues rock at the core, but it can’t be put that plainly. With a tone tempered intro that brings the colours of style and his technique, Supernova is a monster spectacle. From the drum fill that transitions into the verse chords, to how the tone has been mastered and managed, there is a lot to learn from this music. The riffs and chord changes challenge 4/4, bringing a lot of dynamic play within the song itself. In the lyrics, there are moments of self-reflection, and the resultant creative outflow, which he likens to this supernova. Just like the ones light years away, Blueburst will shine with a brilliant light, here on Earth.
He might have released just another single for you to binge on, but don’t assume he’s slowing down. I was reminded of a wonderful movie called The Meyerowitz Stories (2017) with this song. It is a flame that burns brighter in the later years of life, which many write off as a dying dream. This is more than a prodigal return, it is a love letter to music and himself. Follow him for more spectacular music like this!
