If we take the former members of underground, hard rocking, unusual & strange hit makers / songwriters and national touring act, DING MAO, the former drummer of well-known “Love Core” hard rock band, Boy Hits Car, and one of L.A.’s best, club packing Rock bands’ songwriter/ performers from S.O.B., Radio Free America, and Blackcast, we will get MAL. From deep within the bowels of Van Nuys, California and born from a love of dark, interesting, and moody music, MAL was created in 2012. The three members, Kristopher Jung (vocals/guitar), Peter Hollywood (Bass), and Brendan Reynolds (Drums), came together to write , perform, and record for their own amusement and passion. Although they just played out for fun, they began getting more and more gig offers. They have never booked their own shows since 2012, and this forced MAL to turn their focus to taking their act more seriously as they realized they were fulfilling the needs of people for the something new and different. MAL is a unique band that fall under the umbrella of Alternative, heavy rock blending elements of Progressive Rock, Space Rock, Hard Rock, Grunge, Post Rock, and sometimes shoegaze/ post punk to create familiar melodies with slightly unfamiliar chord progressions and arrangements. In short, MAL fills the quiet need in the music market for progressive arrangements with the familiarity of rock in their lyrics and melodies. MAL is on tour and will be releasing new singles every month.
