Pop Punk Rapper Hollow River, a rising artist from Boston and Toronto, is set to release a new EP on April 19th, 2023. The EP
was written during the artist’s last semester at Berklee College of Music, where they studied under legendary producer and engineer Susan Rogers (Prince, Barenaked Ladies).
Hollow River draws inspiration from a wide range of influences to create his unique blend that is less Linkin Park and more reminiscent of a lost collaboration between Eminem and a Pop Punk band like Blink-182 or Green Day. The EP showcases the artist’s unique blend of 90s/2000s Pop Punk, infused with the energy and attitude that defined the genre in its heyday.
The lead single from the EP, ‘The Way I Want To’, has already made waves on streaming platforms, racking up over 100,000 streams on Spotify and earning the artist critical acclaim for their bold, unapologetic lyrics. Their second single ‘Aspartame’ is a tongue and cheek song about diet cola and the unhealthy effect of believing something is real that is not. ‘I’ll Break Them Down’ is a fast paced rap-emo anthem about surviving panic attacks and self empowerment that comes with truly knowing yourself.
The final song is a 6 minute opus speaking out about the struggle to create community in a music scene that celebrates and excuses predators and the uphill battle that will comes with building their own community outside that scene.
