Gerasimos Papadopoulos leads the band called “Ferah”. It is an Arabic word that means “joy”. It consists of Gerasimos Papadopoulos (the composer of this piece), who plays the oud, Achilleas Tigas, who plays the ney, Stefanos Agiopoulos, who plays the percussions, and Thomas Meleteas, who plays the contrabass.

Their base is Athens. Their common love for the musical traditions of Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, the Aegean, and the wider area of the Eastern Mediterranean led them to the creation of this group, with the additional aim of composing and performing new compositions based on these traditions. They are inspired by Ottoman music, Byzantine music & Greek traditional music.
