Sean Kennedy is a renaissance man, by all measures. From his lyrics to the kind of music he likes, he changes with the times while being his own clock. His sound is a refreshing mix of old school songwriting, with a good dash of pop sensibilities, seasoned throughout his music. His latest single is called Memory.
Sean’s cognizance for melody and songwriting flourishes when it is matters of the heart. Sean Kennedy also happens to be a romantic. With lyrics for the soul and music for the mind and body, you get a trifecta of joy in this kind of music. Sean’s golden voice is on full display as soon as this song starts, and it organically builds to this impressive cascade. The instruments complement his soft vocals, till the chorus has a rock kick that changes the sonic texture of a song like this. The harmonics play well, reiterating and accentuating the lyrical highlights. It is a beautiful romantic track, a ballad like it has been performed by Keane. However, Sean manages all this by himself.
The outro is an incredible change, yet carefully transcends to the kind of tone and tempo Sean expects. Though it has been curated well as a recorded track, you can feel the soul and heartbeat of it if it were to be performed live. I’d love to hear this in series like Ted Lasso and One Tree Hill. The soothing tones that Sean carries definitely aid to the scenes, and the transitions allow a creative flow to be seen on screen as well. Listen to his album What’s Left Unsaid for some marvelous music and follow him for more tracks like this!
