Roger Ricks-What A Place
Roger Ricks combines the best of many genres with his sound. The kind of infectious energy that is present in his music comes from live instruments and sound composition. This is a man that brings smiles to peoples faces with his genre traversing music. There is a good chance you would have heard one of his tracks in guitar virtuoso playlists. This is his latest single, What A Place.
It is difficult to remain optimistic in this new world we live in. Contrasting this dire atmosphere, Roger Ricks brings his blossoming sound with a blues riff that borders on hard rock. It is an awesome touch to what is a dystopian explanation for a world folding inwards. As the lyrics describe the environment, climate-both social and physical, you remain in awe. The musicality is retained, like a diamond in the rough, chasing the chorus that is preparing itself for takeoff. Armed with his battleaxe, he very perfectly in one song describes what is going on in simple terms. He doesn’t dive into unimportant details, it’s all musically derived and has a beautiful ring to it. As an instrumentalist as well, he shines, giving the guitar the spotlight it deserves for a very sweet tone and solo. Christmas and Easter came early, I guess.
All of Roger Ricks’ proceeds go to kids in need, with his 30 second-listen initiative. Apart from the beautiful cause, who wouldn’t want to hear his compositions full length, several times? This track would be a great fit in the reboot of Total Recall, especially closing the great movie. Listen to his classy singles like Even When You’re Gone and Never Stop Dreaming to support him and the cause he puts his foot forward for. Don’t forget to follow to rock out to more music!
