Love Ghost-Tales of a Sad Boy Watch now
  • Review

Love Ghost have consistently tried to break the genre boundaries through their work. Their effort has been understood, resonated, and been a part of many people’s lives. With real, raw and honest music affecting people enough for them to rise so quickly, they are inspired. Their latest EP is a collaboration with Big Boss Mulaa. This is Tales of a Sad Boy.

This EP shuffles through the swings of hard rock, guitar laced trap & hip-hop music. Big Boss Mulaa provides some incisive lines and well crafted verses to add the unique pitch and strike in this EP. Love Ghost create a fun pool of sound with the stream of lyrics creating the desired effect. Lethargic uses a scratchy vinyl effect for a slow burn into the song. It rides on the wave of melancholy, expressing depression and the distortion in life. Simple, the guitar is the only accent on the track as far as the instruments go. It is almost like a ballad, stemming from the roots of Linkin Park. Big Boss Mulaa also changes his sound to suit this style, working in tandem.

Samurai returns to the tempo and life as felt in Heartless. This is a solid track, bringing in the distortion guitar as well. Fruitful and executed masterfully, it has crests and troughs, even through the lyrics. It has a lot of references to Love Ghost within their old capsule of sound. The analogy of the Samurai cuts as wounds that heal but leave a scar, is apt. The word choice, hence, is beautifully vivid-creating a palette of colours unlike any other. Big Boss Mulaa also has the ability of moulding a part of the track to his sound, due to his unique performance style.

Stem from feelings

Train Tracks is the closing track of this EP, and is a melancholy recession. It balances out the aggression and emotional parcels within this EP. 2 for 2 each takes a softer and more aggressive style of the same heart. It is poetry in motion, formulating a troubled mind that is able to express it.

As Love Ghost echoes the thoughts of a generation, it is important to see how they do it. The band has had these truthful experiences, and brings the audience into the fold. Each artist they collaborate with adds to this mix, making their own sound known when they reach a stage. Love Ghost is a brilliant project, dissolving stigma through their music. There is nothing more exciting than seeing progress through music, and so many standing in formation for support. This band speaks and keeps to the truth, and has hence become a force to battle depression and acknowledge it, to make a change. Garden State, Sylvia were some movies that would have this as a fitting soundtrack. Check out Love Ghost with their unique range of albums, and Big Boss Mulaa as well. These talented artists are changing the course of music through themselves. Support them and follow for more awesome music!
