Someone Else by Joe Bygraves is an absolute masterpiece that oozes instrumental genius. Joe’s vocals will leave your skies painted with memories. Warning, it will have you resurrecting the graves of previous relationships.
From the moment the first notes are played, you are transported to another world and it’s filled with love, longing and heartbreak. The lyrics on this number are lush and his expressive voice is simply breathtaking. His emotional depth is directly proportional to his vocal range, which I must say is a pretty wide range! He manages to capture the pain and yearning of lost love with incredible authenticity. The production quality of the song is top-notch as well. The delicate balance of instrumentals enhances the emotion of the lyrics without overpowering the vocals. While the song is about loss and pain, you have to admit that it has you bobbing your head while you feel Joe’s experience of heartache and longing.
You ask any female millennial or anyone who grew up in the late 90s or early 2000s about 10 Things I Hate About You and they will have a list of appreciation for it. The cult classic is based on the Shakespearean play “Taming Of The Shrew” but it has quite the twist that branches away from Shaky’s version. Someone Else would be the perfect scene for when Kat finds out Patrick’s true (yet changed) motives.
