Gerasimos Papadopoulos-Bazaar
Often, the Western Whitewash diminishes music from other regions due to media control. Gerasimos Papadopoulos is a brilliant musician who can change that. His music is of the time, of the place. Like an instant transmission chamber, he takes you to where his song came from. A Greek artist with a sharp mind and strange cognizance for composition, you can hear his excellence from the moment you press play on his track. This is his latest single with Ferah, Bazaar.
Imagine every visual of a bazaar you have seen, or experienced. What populates it is the people, the activity of selling and buying. The colourful texture of such a vividly vibrant place is encapsulated with a string of notes like no other. Not inspired by anything other than what he’s describing, he takes us on a tour. As textures mount, you see more of this exciting composition, I have personally never travelled to a Mediterranean country, but now I can proudly say I had an aural experience there. It tantalizes and dances in your mind hours after the song is done as well. Gerasimos Papadopoulos takes you on an excursion to a soignée.
Mediterranean with Simon Reeve is a show this would definitely fit in. With the visuals of the setting and the moments being honestly derived, this is the work of an artist unlike any other. He is helping us taste the vernacular sands of time, the powdery white beaches and prized proportions. Listen to his 2022 album Byzantine Hymns and follow him for more exotic music!
