Chucky Trading Co just released his new single- Sleepwalking Through History and it surpasses our expectations. What sets the track apart is that it is pure folk in cadence and the fact that it is rock at heart. The instrumentals and rhythm structure are what solidifies this fact. Their music is usually a mixture of Rock and folk but this comes with a twist.
Sleepwalking Through History begins with a twangy drum and guitar combo that has you grooving to its beats. We then have CT’s voice make his entrance. He speaks reminiscently of a past relationship in this track. If you don’t know about how crazy Woodstock got, the lyrics will have you doing a double-take. Not because it is controversial but rather at the smoothness of its mention.“I met you at Woodstock. We danced in the rain. You had such passion and I had cocaine.” It was a festival infinitely famous for its use of drugs. There is a simplistic quality to the song that really does a great job of grounding the track. This works brilliantly in favour of the track.
A film that romanticises the past much like this number is Grown Ups a comedic genius. The film has hilarious writing and a cast that delivers! The playlist of the song already has classics and Sleepwalking Through History won’t have any trouble gliding right in. The film’s arch is a constant up unlike a lot of films and this song would only add to it.
Chucky Trading Co is no stranger to creating well-crafted art. We can see that in Sleepwalking in History. The folk grounds the lyrics extremely well and the instruments play a key role in it If you want to see more such trippy songs, I highly suggest you take a look at Chucky Trading Co’s socials.
