Business Cashmere is a Denver- Colorado based Indie Rock band. The band seems to have found each other due to some stroke of luck. Going through life, its many pitfalls and the lockdown, helped them grow closer and create good music. Once the lockdown lifted, they were performing at venues. Among many songs that were created during the lockdown by Business Cashmere, Social Distance happens to be one of them. What a fun upbeat rock song that really showcases the band’s cohesive relationship.

Business Cashmere’s new release “Dance alone” has a strange dream pop quality to it. The song begins with a Bass and drums combo that invites you. We then have Chris- the lead singer’s voice come in with Step outside, we’re dreamin in, no place to go. The song talks about going through the motions of life alone. Sometimes on the way you meet people and you have to let them go due to unforeseen circumstances. We don’t know if it’s for the better or not but we have to move on no matter how hard or disorienting it gets. The sounds in the song aren’t manic. Though energy swings between horrors of loneliness and the hope of independence, there’s a layered adventure . Leading to a gamut of imagery and a multi textured experience. 

Stephen Chbosky’s Perks of Being a Wallflower happens to be a movie that deals with similar themes. All of us hope that it gets better after school and the truth is it does get better for a lot of people. But sometimes life feels like high stakes high school with a bit more EQ. Business Cashmere’s “Dance alone” can play at prom as the protagonist/s owns their narrative.
