Bridges Ablaze are a power duo. With similar instruments, music tastes and talents welding into one, nothing is limited. They grow together, and you get to hear their explosive, revelatory metalcore sound. In case you thought all metalcore sounded the same, listen to what happens when talented virtuosos take the stage. This is their debut original, Hellbent. It’s well worth that shiver down your spine.
The intro for many metal songs is the highlight. I can still hum the intros to my favourite ABR & Killswitch songs. Hellbent is something next on the list. With a soft, unassuming touch, you wait for the drop. You know the genre, you know it’s coming. The headbang that comes along with it is real, riffs flowing like a tsunami wave. Each section has powerful impact, it doesn’t blend into something simple instantly. The rhythm section creates the foreboding strength that this iron-smelted metalcore piece gets. The beauty remains in the sheer weight and presence of this track. You hear the Periphery influences in some parts of the verse, melodic yet memorable with a heavy step. It is a superbly executed track, something that has come after their cover. Yes, that section at 2:45 is that heavy. It almost wears down the Earth.
Movies like Punisher:War Zone and The Crow, which also featured Pantera would host this track beautifully. The cinematography aspect is the detail itself, creating some complex, woven patterns that you can see with a macro zoom. You know their single is going to be on loop. Follow Bridges Ablaze for more music that is sure to come. For now, keep that neck brace ready and let loose!
