Blueburst revisits rock and blues with a whole new love for the genre. Craig Douglas Miller had once given up on his music dream, and we sure are glad he didn’t. With some fantastic compositions gracing us, we are honoured that he started his musical career, at 50. It’s never too late to rock, and he knows this. Marty Willson-Piper on guitar, Michael Jerome on drums and Ryan Kelly on bass-this band is back with their album. This one is called Significance.
Well, as much as it is for these artists, is how significant it is for us. Blueburst create some delicious melodies with an alt-rock soul, revisiting blues rock once in a while. What is centre to their project is soulful, memorable music. Vanish alone is enough to get that feel. A wondrous balance is created in the vocals and instrumentals. Effects galore, with two chord changes making it a memorable song. Production masters the tones and styles to their tailored, specific shape.
Four chord change songs will welcome you as well. Executioner’s Song is just one of those singles that makes you want to play along. If you don’t know the instrument, you can at least sing along. Their lyrics are an idiosyncratic bubble of what they live through, making for some exciting tunes. Sure, ChatGPT can write, but can it write like this? When I had heard Supernova, I knew how much this band loves detail. The way the tones flow are ridiculously simple, stylish and layered to ensure the entire effect is felt.
The build on songs like Senseless and Bravado are what drives me to indie bands like this. They love music so much, that they craft it like a statuette. Blueburst spend time, writing the song, perfecting it and sending out this beautiful product that we seemingly forget in some time. However, you’ll find it hard to miss the little transitions and swings that make the song perfect.
Catchy grooves like Kick My Tires also keep the crowd entertained. This could be a listening party for a massive crowd, and you can imagine everyone dancing and flowing to the melodies. When Amplify Me came out as a single earlier this year, it immediately became one of my favourite riffs from an indie band. It has this mystique, signature swagger that wants you to wear your leather jacket and go on a ride.
Blueburst keeps the party going with Come Alive. Quicker, punchier tracks punctuate soothing alt-rock and bluesy songs that steal your attention. The album is a reminder of the kind of fire they have to put their music out and have us enjoy it. As much as we enjoy listening to this work, they live and love music.
This song list would be amazing in the TV series Entourage, along withs some other thriller and action based shows. Their album is worth enjoying for hours together, so make yourself some coffee, relax and enjoy the album with the link above! Make sure you follow them for more!
