Blindness & Light create melodies with a lasting impression. Ever since their self-titled album dropped, there has been a craving for post rock revelations of that kind. You might have heard The First Light of Day as a single as well, and you know the different instrumental textures this band can create. The latest single is called Time for Something Drastic.
Here, you’re put in a synthetic wave pool that opens up suddenly to the majesty of nature. Blindness & Light like to create a moment, so it is always a surprise what the song will feel like. The distorted guitar with a touch of reverb is the narrator for this story, and we feel like falling to its mercy. Building verse parts make for a galloping melody section, especially the rhythm being a unique element. The bass aligns just for the chorus, and takes its own tributary. Helen Reynolds joins in this track for an angelic choir element that will send shivers down your spine. The song has a beautiful quality of just harnessing energy for all to feel, and it seems created out of scratch. Something as absorbing, and pure-can be made by no one but Blindness & Light.
You can hear the band’s best work on their Spotify page. Their band is becoming synonymous to exploration with instruments, so to speak. Keinohrhasen (2007) would be great for this song, as it has some really cool transitions of action. Listen to the band above, and follow them for more sorcery like this that can create a dramatic flair unlike any other!
